Maintenance & Care taking Volunteer
The Ahoy Centre
We’re looking for long‑term volunteers with good DIY skills or experience in building/maintenance work. You’ll support our Bosun with caring for our boats — including dinghies, longboats, and our traditional Watermen Cutters — and help keep the centre in excellent condition. Tasks include general repairs, small building projects, and assisting with annual boat overhauls. Regularly on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday throughout the year.
We are seeking reliable, long‑term volunteers with strong DIY abilities and/or experience in building or maintenance work. In this role, you will support our Bosun in caring for our growing fleet of boats — including dinghies, longboats, and our traditional Watermen Cutter rowing boats — as well as helping to keep our expanding centre in excellent, “shipshape” condition. Your tasks may include: General upkeep and repair work across the centre Supporting building and improvement projects Assisting with the annual maintenance and overhaul of our longboats and Watermen Cutters Helping ensure our facilities, workshop, and equipment remain safe, tidy, and well‑maintained If you enjoy practical hands-on work and want to contribute to a charity making a real difference in the community, we would love to hear from you.
