As a Front of House Volunteer, you’ll support the Front of House Team Leader with welcoming volunteers to the Museum Reception during Steaming Weekends and on Static Sundays.
Help preserve one of London’s most extraordinary industrial treasures! Kempton Steam Museum is home to the Sir William Prescott Engine, the world’s largest triple‑expansion engine. Kempton Steam Museum is an independent museum in London governed by the Kempton Great Engines Trust. It was set up with the aim of preserving the historic steam pumping engines at Kempton Park Pumping Station and making them accessible to the public. Since 1995, our incredible volunteers have successfully returned the ‘Sir William Prescott’ engine to steam and showcase it to the public on steaming weekends throughout the year. As a Front of House Volunteer, you’ll support the Front of House Team Leader with welcoming volunteers to the Museum Reception during Steaming Weekends and on Static Sundays. Main tasks: Providing a helpful and friendly welcome, as the first point of contact for all our visitors Sharing information on museum activities Processing ticket payments and scanning pre-booked tickets Booking visitors onto tours Supporting the Team Leader in calculating stock levels of leaflets and guidebooks This role is ideal for people who: A commitment to good customer service Have good communication skills with a positive nature Are proactive Enjoy working in a busy environment Are reliable and trustworthy In joining us, you’ll become part of a friendly, dedicated volunteer team, develop and share your skills, and play a vital role in developing our audiences.
