Do you love books, ideas, conversation, and helping people discover stories that change lives? Are you someone who has built experience in life or work and now wants to be part of something creative, cultural, and community-driven? Books on the Rise is building something different in Richmond: an independent bookshop, record shop, arts venue, café/bar, and creative hub where literature, music, debate, film, theatre, and ideas come together. We are looking for outgoing, thoughtful volunteer booksellers to help shape the future of our growing arts community. The Role This is not simply retail. We want volunteers who: • Love reading and discussing books • Enjoy helping customers discover unexpected titles • Can help curate and shape sections of the shop • Want to be part of a wider arts and cultural movement • Enjoy conversation, ideas, and community You might help: • Curate displays and themed book selections • Recommend books to customers • Support literary events and launches • Help create a welcoming cultural atmosphere • Build specialist sections (history, politics, poetry, philosophy, sci-fi, travel, memoir, music, etc.) • Help connect readers, writers, and audiences • Contribute ideas for reading groups, talks, workshops, and community projects
