Christmas Volunteer at Hackney Night Shelter
Hackney Doorways
Opportunity to support those in need over the festive period (23rd December to 2nd January) at Hackney Night Shelter.
Volunteers are vital to the work we do supporting people experiencing homelessness in Hackney. We have a great need for volunteers to help run the shelters over the festive period and would love for you to be part of our brilliant volunteering community. We need volunteers to help during the festive period with availability between 23rd December to 2nd January serving food and drinks, chatting with guests and helping to keep the shelter a safe and friendly place to be. You will need to have done an induction (30mins – tour, chat & sign up) as well as a first shift either morning or evening before 22nd December in order to volunteer over the festive period. We were actually started by volunteers 25 years ago when we were a roving shelter, but we now have a location. Our main shelter has 20 beds and we give our guests 28 day stays whilst supporting them holistically back into work, help with their visa applications and to find longer term accommodation. This is a fantastic role for someone who wants to make a real difference in their local community helping those in need during this festive period.
