The Real Junk Food Project - Wednesday morning veg chopper @ The Cambiran Community Centre in Richmond. You will joining a team of enthusiastic chefs who create low cost healthy meal for your community using food that would otherwise have gone to waste.
Would you like to be part of a team that helps to reduce food waste and provides healthy low cost food to your local community? The Real Junk Food Project are looking for a veg chopper to join their kitchen teams at the Cabmrian Centre on Wednesday mornings. You will supporting our head chefs by peeling/chopping and other general kitchen duties. You will be joining a dynamic team that create healthy lunches for 50-70 guests per session, creating dishes from the food donations that arrive that morning. This is food that is rescued from the supermarkets and other local businesses that would otherwise have gone to waste. Our kitchen team aim to create a soup, two main courses (one vegetarian) and a dessert each session. You will learn techniques of how to cook dishes in large quantities if you don't already have experience in catering. The core hours are 9-11:30 with an opportunity to stay and serve customers during our opening hours (11:30-13:30) if you would like to. Our community cafes operate on a Pay As You Feel Basis and are open to all members of our community.

You will be joining a friendly social team and will be giving back to your community as well as benefiting the environment.
Minimum 9am-11:30am on Wednesdays, maximum 9am-2pm if you wish to stay for a full shift including service.
