GCDA Learning Admin Support Volunteer Role Description Are you looking to volunteer in a meaningful way supporting an incredible adult learning programme? Have you got a few hours to spare each week and want to build skills and confidence? Want to make a difference? GCDA runs a diverse and busy Adult Learning contract for the council including cooking skills, family learning, craft and creative skills, food growing and business start-up courses. We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic volunteer to support the admin team. Role Adult Learning Admin Support Purpose To support the Adult Learning administration team with website updates, scheduling support, data input, filing, making tutor packs. For volunteers who want to, this role can extend to tutor support during the sessions by attending classes, workshops and events and helping the tutor collect paperwork, fill out their administrative duties, help distribute materials, help tidy, clear away, wash up and put things away. The role will also be to support learners where appropriate and talk to them about their experiences. Full induction and training will be given Responsible to Georgia Hunt Commitment Varied depending on course Expenses will be covered – travel on receipt of proof of travel, and for shifts longer than 4 hours, we will pay up to £5 for lunch on receipt of proof. Location Admin role will be based at: • Greenwich Hub, 31 Royal Hill, SE10 8RR Tutor support at various locations across the borough including: • Woolwich Front Room, 105 Powis Street, Woolwich, SE18 6JB • Woolwich Common Community Centre, 17 Leslie Smith Square, SE18 4DW • Kidbrooke Community Hub, Pegler Square, SE3 9GR Tasks Admin role: • Upload course onto our website • Create tutor folders and resource packs • Input data from feedback forms and Learner Journeys onto Google forms • File learners’ work appropriately • Support the team with other tasks as required Tutor Support Role: • Help the tutor set up the room including laying tables out, and putting out ingredients or other materials as necessary • To welcome learners into the session with a smiling, welcoming demeanour • To provide support to the tutor with administrative duties such as ensuring forms are filled in correctly and IDs are checked • To provide support to the learners which could include getting things for someone with impaired mobility, helping someone fill out a form if English is a second language, or helping them take photos of their work • To signpost learners to other GCDA courses and activities including further adult learning, cookery clubs, Good Food in Greenwich, growing sites and our community centres • Conduct learner forums to gain further insight into how learners feel about GCDA learning and what improvements they would like to see Essential skills required Good customer service skills Able to follow instruction Good eye for detail to ensure forms and data are filled in/uploaded correctly Willingness to use initiative and be flexible to do tasks as required. Desirable skills required Knowledge of adult or community learning A basic DBS check will be required to volunteer for this role
