We are looking for a Trustee with accountancy experience who will join the Board of Turner’s House Trust as the Honorary Treasurer.
Principal responsibilities of the Treasurer are to ensure that the Board have, in place, appropriate financial… • management - working closely with the Finance Manager (0.2 FTE) sharing management oversight of this role with the THT House Director • information - in relation to budgetary and bi-monthly / annual reporting • frameworks – i.e. accounting procedures, controls and policies • controls and compliance – the Board must deliver its financial responsibilities including maintaining / protecting / accounting of the Museum and its assets • statutory records and accounts – HMRC; Charities Commission; Co’s House • audit oversight – incl. the appointment of and regular review of the Independent Examiners

Personal Qualities • A strong commitment to Turner’s House Trust and its objectives • Excellent management skills • Tact, diplomacy and powers of persuasion, able to listen and engage effectively • Strong networking capabilities Experience (E - Essential or D - Desirable) • A recognised accounting and finance qualification. E • A proven ability to communicate and explain financial information. D • Experience of working at a senior strategic and professional level. D • Active interest in, knowledge and understanding of, the cultural and heritage sector. D • Knowledge and experience of charities accounting. The Board meets six times a year. Some trustees also have regular / ad hoc meetings to discuss specific topics. Trustees may represent the charity at public events, meetings and with the media. Board members serve a three-year term and are eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Trustees are not remunerated, and this commitment is estimated to average four days a month.
