Volunteer
Work and Play Scrapstore
We are looking to create a pool of around 6-8 volunteers and for any given day to have two to three volunteers giving us 2.5-3 hours each day so there is overlap between shifts, and to allow for breaks and lunch etc etc . The skillset required is to ensure the table of goods is topped up and looking good, to engage with customers, to take money for the goods (no cash), and feed back the popularity of stock so we can stock accordingly. Stock has to be stored internally at the end Saturday shift.
Exciting opportunity to join a brand new circular economy hub opening in Richmond on March 7th. Called The Fixery it is located in the newly renovated (and warm) Chapel which is part of Richmond Cemetary. Initially it will only be open for two days of the week - Friday and Saturday - until June, when it will open Thursday-to Sunday, all at 11am-4pm. Work and Play Scrapstore will be one of half a dozen waste warriors plying their wares, alongside a Repair Cafe, Clothes Swop, Refill Station, bike repairs and mobile cafe. We provide low-cost upcycled art and craft materials for schools, families, students and community organisations. The Chapel has toilets, a kitchen, storage areas, seating and outdoor seating in summer.

Keep the table tidy, filled with stock and looking pleasing to the eye. Feed back any preferences for type of stock we should be selling. Engage with customers and promote the fantastic upcycling work that Work and Play Scrapstore does. We divert over 60 tonnes of waste each year from landfill and incineration.
To be part of this exciting new venture - Richmond's first ever Circular Economy Hub. To be part of the team expanding Work and Play Scrapstore's presence to new parts of London (Our main warehouse is in Tooting, SW London and this is our first ever satellite 'store') and be part of one of the fastest-growing parts of or economy.
