Refugees Welcome in Richmond

The duty of our trustees is to oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. The main duty is to manage the charity with honesty and integrity in line with objectives set out in our constitution. They ensure that Refugees Welcome in Richmond (RWinR) has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision for refugees and people seeking sanctuary to become integrated into new communities and helping them to thrive.

The role requires working as a trustee on the Refugees Welcome in Richmond Trustee Board.

● Lived experience or knowledge of sanctuary seeking experience ● Enthusiasm for our vision and mission to enable refugees to feel welcome, successfully settle and thrive in Richmond upon Thames.Experience of working in charitable sector (desirable not necessary) ● Good team worker with experience of networking ● Willingness to undergo relevant training necessary to maintain and develop skills, knowledge and compliance with legislation. ● Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good judgment and work effectively as a board member, both in teams and independently. ● Good communication and IT skills ● Commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. ● A DBS check with no criminal convictions. ● Be over 18.

Time Commitment

Attending at least four board meetings annually. Meetings last around two hours and take place remotely on Zoom, Google Meet and/or in a local venue. We aim to meet every six weeks to two months (approximately six to eight times per year). Trustees may wish to volunteer to join other ad hoc meetings to interact with clients and partners or participate in working groups.
