Detailed Description

Location: London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames Term: 3 years About Us Absolute Support Leading Light is a small local charity based in Richmond-upon Thames that supports people with learning disabilities and with autism. Founded in 2006, Absolute Support has build a solid reputation as a caring provider that offers a nurturing home setting for those in our care. Through our two community-based, supported living homes and via a small Outreach service, we work to enable 11 young adults and to live happy and meaningful lives. We believe everyone deserves the chance to lead their best life, and we work closely with people with learning disabilities, their families, and the wider community to make this happen. Our trustees are a group of passionate people who guide the charity’s work, making sure we’re well-run and always focused on what matters most — the people we support. The Role We are looking for a new trustee with experience of delivering care or support to vulnerable people - this could be in health, social care, community services, or a related area. Your insight and experience will help us: Understand the challenges and opportunities in delivering high-quality support Shape services that really meet people’s needs Keep the voices of people with learning disabilities at the heart of what we do Plan for the future with a clear understanding of what good care looks like How to Apply If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! Why these skills are required

You do not need to be a senior leader - we welcome people with a range of experience, whether hands-on support work, service management, nursing, community work or other relevant backgrounds. We are looking for someone who: Shares our passion for supporting people with learning disabilities to lead their best lives Has experience of delivering care or support to vulnerable people (e.g. people with learning disabilities) in health, social care, or community settings. Works well in a team and can think strategically and contribute constructively to discussions and decision-making Is able to bring practical experience and ideas to help shape our work Can commit time to preparing for and attending trustee meetings, as well as occasional subcommittee meetings or events Is willing to act as an ambassador for the charity and uphold our values You do not need previous trustee experience - we will support and guide you along the way and provide training.
