As a trustee, you will oversee the work of Volunteer Centre Greenwich and ensure the organisation operates in compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and best practice in governance. Trustees collectively safeguard the values, reputation, and resources of VCG while supporting the strategic direction and sustainability of the charity. Key Responsibilities -Ensure that the charity complies with its governing document (Articles of Association), Charity Commission regulations, and relevant legislation. -Uphold and adhere to VCG’s Trustee Code of Conduct and maintain the highest standards of integrity and governance. -Provide strategic oversight of the organisation’s activities and contribute to decision-making that furthers VCG’s charitable objectives. -Bring financial expertise to the Board, offering scrutiny, guidance, and support on budgeting, financial planning, and risk management. -Contribute to the effective management of resources to ensure the charity’s long-term sustainability. -Act as an ambassador for VCG, promoting its work and impact across the community and relevant networks. -Attend four Board meetings per year and the Annual General Meeting. -Attend a quarterly sub-group meeting between Board meetings (Board meetings usually up to 2 hours, sub-group meetings 1.5 hours). -Participate in additional meetings or events as required.

We are particularly seeking individuals with: -A strong background in finance (accountancy, financial management, auditing, or related field). -Experience in either the voluntary, public/statutory, or business sector. -The ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate it clearly to fellow trustees. -Commitment to the values of volunteering, community engagement, and the charitable sector. -Willingness to commit time and expertise to the role, including attendance at Board meetings and occasional sub-committees.
