Intergenerational Session volunteer
Brighter Together
Helping out in sessions in care homes, engaging older people and nursery school children in creative, fun and stimulating activities. The sessions last for 1 hour and take place on a weekly basis during term-time only. We would love for our volunteers to make a regular commitment to attending each week, as it helps to form bonds with the adults and children.. and is rewarding to see these relationships develop time.
This role involves lending a hand in our intergenerational sessions. We provide fun, creative and stimulating sessions bringing nursery school children into care homes. Our work lessens social isolation for older people and provides a boost to the confidence and social skills for small children. This role is assisting the Session Facilitator to help the children and the adults make connections - it can involve helping with crafts, games and sensory activities.
