Friends of the River Crane Environment

FORCE is a a local charity with over 700 members, run by volunteers with no paid staff. We work in partnership with key stakeholders to improve the river corridor for people and wildlife. We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised volunteer to help organise and join FORCE's monthly Walks & Talks.

Detailed Description

The Friends of the River Crane Environment (FORCE) is a volunteer led organisation which works to improve the lower Crane catchment for people and wildlife. We organise guided monthly Walks & Talks to include nature-focused walks, walks along the River Crane and along the Duke of Northumberland River as well as walks linked to initiatives such as the Big Butterfly Count and London Rivers Week. Our Walks & Talks are open to all, although places need to be booked. We are looking for someone to help organise and join FORCE's monthly Walks & Talks. Key tasks will include: - Set up the Walks & Talks programme, in liaison with Trustees & other regular walk leaders, plus using the FORCE maps of walks - Plan the start & end locations with timings for each Walk & Talk - Create a risk assessment for the walk (risk assessments exist for the regular walks but will need reviewing) - Arrange for promotion of the event through FORCE's web site and social media etc. - Set up registration for the walk via the FORCE website & Eventbrite - Help people enjoy the walks More information on the role is available on our website at: https://www.force.org.uk/get-involved/

Why these skills are required

We are looking for someone who enjoys going for walks & helping people to enjoy the outdoors. The ability to plan and use basic computer applications is essential. A broad understanding of conservation work would be useful.

Time Commitment

FORCE's Walks & Talks are held monthly throughout the year. There are several well established walks which are repeated annually. Others are introduced into the programme, either as new walks or as walks using the maps created by FORCE. We anticipate a time commitment of approx. 4-6 hours each month.
