Support young people as they set up and run a real business. This hands-on role involves mentoring students through weekly school-based meetings, helping them tackle challenges like opening a bank account and managing their company. No prior business experience needed—just enthusiasm, reliability, and a passion for making a difference. Approx. 1 hour/week during term time.
Our amazing Business Volunteers inspire and support young people to set up and run a real business. This hands-on and highly impactful role involves mentoring and encouraging students to face the challenges of running a business, and the inevitable setbacks this entails, in a safe space to apply their learning to the real world. The key activities of the role include: * Coaching, mentoring, and positively challenging a group of young people running their own business * Being a supportive and encouraging role model *Attending regular company meetings within the school environment * Keeping a group of students on track and supporting them with more complicated tasks ie. Opening a business bank account Business volunteers are primarily based within schools/ colleges supporting a group of students for approximately one hour per week throughout the school term. Volunteers do not necessarily need experience of running a business in order to enjoy and make a big impact in this role.

Business Volunteers should be enthusiastic, reliable, and confident engaging with young people in a school or college setting. While no prior business experience is required, volunteers must be able to: * Communicate clearly and positively with students and staff * Offer guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback * Support teamwork and problem-solving in a group environment * Attend regular weekly meetings and maintain consistency * Demonstrate patience, adaptability, and a genuine interest in youth development Volunteers must also complete safeguarding training and an enhanced DBS check prior to starting.
As a Business Volunteer, you'll gain the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives while developing your own skills. Volunteers often report increased confidence, improved communication and coaching abilities, and a deeper sense of purpose. You’ll build connections with schools and fellow volunteers, and contribute to a nationally recognised programme that supports youth development and enterprise education.
