Age UK Richmond

Sessions are run by a tutor who will delegate tasks to the men such as chopping or frying. Volunteer will help by encouraging the clients to do their assigned job. Take the register so we can keep records of which clients attend which session. Clients pay a small contribution towards the ingredients; this needs to be collected. Help to tidy up and keep the kitchen clean, encourage the clients to wash up. To participate in any training or meetings for the support and benefit of volunteers.

Detailed Description

Man With A Pan is a cooking club for retired men at the Age UK Richmond, Twickenham Wellbeing Centre. At these sessions, the men prepare a 2-course meal which they sit down and eat together. While acquiring cooking skills is important, it is just as valuable for our clients to make friends, as we know older men are at greater risk of loneliness. Man With A Pan is led by a cooking tutor, but with a large group attending, she needs support. The volunteer will help the tutor ensure the sessions run smoothly. Helping to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and finding time for a chat will be an important part of this role.
