Age UK Richmond
MWAP sessions are led by a tutor who will delegate tasks to the clients such as chopping or frying, she cannot be everywhere at once so some support is needed to encourage the men to do their assigned job and helping where needed. Take the register so we can keep records of which clients attend which session Help to tidy up and keep the kitchen clean and encourage the clients to wash up To participate in any training or meetings for the support and benefit of volunteers.
Man With A Pan (MWAP) is a cooking club for retired men held at the ETNA Centre in St Margarets. At these sessions, the men prepare a 2-course meal which they sit down and eat together. While acquiring cooking skills is important, it is just as valuable for our clients to make friends, as we know older men are at greater risk of loneliness. Man With A Pan is led by a cooking tutor, but she needs support. The volunteer will help the tutor ensure the sessions run smoothly. Helping to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and finding time for a chat will be an important part of this role.
