The Mulberry Centre is seeking two new Trustees to join its Board in September 2025. The Mulberry Centre is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious people who want to make a tangible difference to support those affected by cancer. We are keen to hear from applicants from all backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of the communities we serve. In particular, we welcome applications from people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.

Detailed Description

The Mulberry Centre has a Board of twelve Trustees, who bring a wide range of experience and perspectives from many different walks of life. The Mulberry Centre is seeking two new Trustees to join its Board in September 2025. The Mulberry Centre is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious people who want to make a tangible difference to support those affected by cancer. We are keen to hear from applicants from all backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of the communities we serve. In particular, we welcome applications from people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities. Successful candidateswill share our enthusiasm for our mission and be able to contribute to the realisation of our goals. Application deadline is 16th June 2025. Applicants need to provide a CV, covering letter and details of two reference providers top our Chair, Aileen McLeish by emailing chairmulberry@gmail.com. Interviews will be held 7th-9th May 2025. Trustees are fully committed to the work of The Mulberry Centre and collectively provide direction and stewardship for the benefit of the current and future people we support, by: • Setting the Vision, Mission and Values of the Centre; • Ensuring there is a strategy to achieve the Centre’s objectives and monitoring and communicating performance against this; • Acting as the guardians of the Centre’s people, financial and physical assets and its reputation and brand, taking due care over their security, deployment and proper application; • Reviewing and responding to key risks facing the Centre; • Ensuring that the Centre complies with all constitutional, legal and regulatory requirements; • Ensuring that the Centre’s governance is of the highest standard. In practice this means that Trustees will: • Regularly attend Board meetings and sit on one or more Board sub-committees;* • Be informed about committee matters, preparing for meetings, reviewing and commenting on minutes and reports; • Get to know other Board members and members of the team and build good working relationships; • Actively participate in the Centre’s strategic planning; • Play an active role in governance and raise issues as appropriate; • Be an active champion of the organisation and, where possible, attend events and other network opportunities; • Undertake essential training; • Avoid any conflicts of interest.

Desirable attributes, skills and experience - general • An understanding of the legal duties and responsibilities of Trusteeship; • An understanding of the UK charity sector, good governance, Charity Commission and Companies’ House requirements; • A willingness to use personal and/or professional networks for the advancement of The Mulberry Centre’s mission. • Ability to relate to clients’ experiences

Time Commitment

Time commitment: 4 Board meetings per year, an annual Away Day and additional Board Sub Committee meetings as well as being involved in activities such as recruitment. S/he may also be asked to represent the Charity at occasional events and meetings with key stakeholders. Term of Office: Up to three terms with a maximum of 9 years
