We’re looking for a reliable volunteer to help keep our hub clean and welcoming for families and children. Tasks include light duties such as hoovering, emptying bins, wiping tables, cleaning the kitchen and toilet area, and watering indoor and outdoor plants. This role ensures our therapeutic space remains tidy and inviting for children’s therapy sessions and a supportive environment for parents. Minimum 3-month commitment, 1–2 hours per week.
The Purple Elephant Project is a local children’s charity offering therapeutic support to children and families across Richmond and surrounding areas. We create a calm, caring environment where children receive specialist therapy in our dedicated hub – helping them process difficult emotions and experiences in a safe, supported space. While children are in sessions, parents and caregivers are welcomed into a quiet listening space, where they can relax, enjoy a cup of tea, and talk to someone who understands – without judgement. The hub is at the heart of what we do, and keeping it warm, clean, and welcoming helps every family feel safe and valued. About the Role We are looking for a kind, reliable Volunteer Cleaner to help us keep the hub clean and tidy. Your help will ensure the space remains a peaceful, inviting environment for children, parents, therapists, and volunteers. Duties include: Light cleaning in our small kitchen area and toilet Packing and unpacking the dishwasher Hoovering therapy and communal rooms Emptying bins and our paper shredder Dusting and wiping down tables and surfaces Keeping the children's therapy room neat and tidy Watering indoor plants and our outdoor planters You don’t need any experience – just: A good eye for detail A gentle, respectful attitude towards the space Reliability and care in your work A willingness to be part of something meaningful This is a small but incredibly valued role that helps us maintain the calm and supportive environment our families deserve. Time commitment: 1–2 hours per week (flexible timing), with a minimum commitment of 3 months.

We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months, with just 1–2 hours per week. Days and times are flexible and can be arranged to suit your availability. Your consistency helps us maintain a clean, calm, and welcoming space for the families we support.
