Centre Support Volunteer

The Purple Elephant Project

Our main priority is that families who visit the centre are welcomed into a safe, kind, nurturing environment. As a Volunteer Centre Support Worker you will be responsible for ensuring this as well as supporting the therapists and carrying out other admininstrative tasks around the running of the centre.

Detailed Description

As a Volunteer centre support volunteer, you will help to facilitate the day to day running of our centre including greeting and supporting visiting families at our hub. Your contribution will play a key role in making families feel welcomed, heard and supported. Key Responsibilities: Open or close our centre, managing keys and alarms Provide a warm welcome for families coming to the centre Offer a listening ear when needed Providing visitors with refreshments Supporting the therapists with the practicalities around their sessions Helping keeping the centre tidy and welcoming for all our visitors Handle and deal with any day-to-day enquiries and pass to relevant staff members

What skills are required for this role

Admin, Basic IT skills - internet & email, Managing People, People Skills

Training is provided as well as hands-on experience, the opportunity to learn new skills and to be part of a supportive community.

Time Commitment

Minimum 5.5hrs per week (either 8-1.30pm or 1-6.30pm - Monday - Friday) We request at least 6 months commitment

The Purple Elephant Project is easily accessible by several local bus routes: H22, 281, 481, 110 Get off at Kneller Road (Stop S) – this is the nearest bus stop and just a short 4-minute walk away. Nearby landmark: We’re close to Kneller Gardens and Twickenham Stadium, making it easy to find your way. By train: The nearest station is Twickenham Station. From there, take the 281 bus towards Hounslow and get off at Kneller Road (Stop S).
