Balance (support) CIO

Befriending adults with learning disabilities and enabling them to live independently with your support

Detailed Description

We are looking for volunteers who are keen, creative, and fun and who will support adults with learning disabilities take part in activities in the community that they (and hopefully you) are passionate about. E.g. bowling, swimming, theatre, cinema, walking and shopping.

- To accompany clients to and take part in organised group activities or one to one that they have chosen or are part of their support plan - To talk to clients about activities and generate new ideas for activities for them - To act appropriately and go with the pace of service users you are working with, check you have understood them and be creative about what you do. - To record all activities completed with the service users as part of handover - To work within our policies and procedures to always ensure you and their safety We need people who are passionate about supporting adults with learning disabilities to gain independence in their day-to-day lives.

We welcome people from all backgrounds, but we are unable to support volunteers with similar disabilities to our clients. Some ex-offenders will be discounted at the DBS stage of the application. This is dependent on the offence committed. We only request that you have a basic ability to speak English.
