Marketing and Social Media Officer
Refugees Welcome in Richmond
This role will work closely with the RWinR Admin and Communications Manager to maintain, develop and deliver the charity's marketing and social media activities.
This role works broadly to deliver Refugee Welcome in Richmond's marketing and social media activities: 1. Keep our social media channels secure, updated and relevant. 2. Proactively source RWinR-specific material for social media posts by liaising with trustees, committee and others. 3. Proactively source other material for posts by monitoring press for refugee-relevant content. 4. Research social media content by other refugee support organisations for reposting purposes. 5. Respond to general enquiries received through social media channels with the Chair, Vice Chair, Admin and Comms Manager. 6. Support review and improve the website’s content, design structure and functionality, particularly in relation to integrating social media channels. 7. Support review of the Communications Policy, brand and strategic assets. 8. Show sensitivity to the trauma of conflict and displacement; listen if beneficiaries choose to share their experiences, but do not ask directly. 9. Seek to be culturally appropriate and respectful at all times. 10. Work according to the RWinR Safeguarding Policies, Risk Assessments, Code of Conduct and Lone Working Guidance Documents. 11. Treat beneficiaries’ personal information confidentially. 12. Alert the RWinR Nominated Safeguarding Person immediately if concerned about the well-being or safety of a beneficiary or family member; do not attempt to investigate concerns yourself.

1. Enthusiasm for our vision and mission to enable refugees to feel welcome, successfully settle and thrive in Richmond upon Thames. 2. Willingness to undergo relevant training necessary to maintain and develop skills, knowledge and compliance with legislation. 3. Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good judgment and work effectively in teams and independently. 4. Strong communication skills (including familiarity with Google Workspace, WordPress, Facebook, Instagram and/or WhatsApp) and willingness to participate actively and empathetically. 5. Commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. 6. A DBS check with no criminal convictions. 7. Be over 18.
You will be part of a friendly team working to support sanctuary seekers in our local area. You will gain useful experience in coordinating people and activities.
