Role Detail

Trustee role as "Communications Lead" for the Kew Society

Kew Society

N/A

Detailed Description

Lead on design and coordination of the Society's communications across its website, newsletters and social media posts - actual content will usually be drafted and uploaded by others, but some may need editing. Play a leading part in our current strategy to "broaden and deepen" our membership such that it is more representative of the community in Kew in respect to age and ethnicity. Also, advise and help enable our forthcoming campaign to achieve "Step Free Access" across Kew, where currently for pedestrians the two sides of the railway are largely only connected by routes with steps (creating an significant issue for those with mobility issues, eg prams and wheelchairs).

Advice, Information & Support,Art & Design,IT, Technology & Websites,Marketing, PR & Media,Trusteeships & Committees,Campaigning & Lobbying

What skills are required for this role

Creative & Design, Good IT Skills, Reading & Writing, People Skills

Why these skills are required

No requirement for web design skills but essential to have an understanding of how to use a website, and social media, to maximise audience reach. Highly desirable to have experience of growing the membership of a charity (or similar small organisation). Also, we are very much seeking expertise in running a community campaign - in our case (soon to be launched) for "Step Free Access" across Kew (currently bisected by the railway).

What is in it for you

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to give back to the community, helping us to run events and influence important decisions that affect the lives and wellbeing of people of all ages - key issues are green spaces, environment, planning decisions and perhaps most importantly connecting our community (34% of residents in Kew, of all ages, live on their own). The role would suit a stay-at-home parent, who has free time during school hours, or an early retiree who is keen to maintain their workplace skills and gain wider experience. We can offer a supportive, enjoyable and social environment to work in.
