We are looking for 3 front of house volunteers to welcome our visitors, chat to them about our exhibitions, process sales in the our small shop and help out with ad hoc tasks.

Detailed Description

We are looking for 3 friendly and enthusiastic front of house volunteers who are passionate about mental health, art and/or history, to welcome our visitors, chat to them about our exhibitions, process sales in the our small shop and help out with ad hoc tasks. Candidates should be friendly yet professional, and keen to learn about the hospital, about our art and our artists. We are based in the grounds of a mental health hospital, so an inclusive, empathic and non-judgemental mind-set is essential. You would be expected to volunteer twice a month at a regular, pre-agreed time (2 Saturday mornings per month 10am-1pm or 2 Saturday afternoons per month 1pm-5pm). Ideally candidates would stay with us for a minimum of 6 months-1 year, to get the most out of this opportunity. Reliability is essential.

Why these skills are required

Candidates must have an interest in mental health, art and/or history and must be willing to learn about our artists and the hospital's history. They must also be happy to learn to use a till, so confidence handling money is essential. They must also have excellent interpersonal skills, as greeting and interacting with visitors is the most important part of this role.
