Deputy Volunteer Coordinator
Refugees Welcome in Richmond
The Deputy Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to oversee, coordinate and support Refugee Welcome in Richmond's volunteers.
This role will work closely with the Refugees Welcome in Richmond (RWinR) Chair, Volunteer Coordinator, Nominated Safeguarding Lead and volunteer team. Responsibilities and duties ● Monitor and keep a log of applications from new volunteers. ● Arrange interviews for volunteers in conjunction with at least one other trustee/Nominated Safeguarding Lead and/or Deputy Safeguarding Officer. ● Implement Volunteer Induction with the help of the Nominated Safeguarding Lead and/or Deputy Safeguarding Officer. ● Allocate volunteers to roles suited to their qualifications and interests. ● Where appropriate, personally introduce them to families or individual clients. ● Oversee and communicate with volunteers to support them in their roles (at least monthly). ● Deliver an exit interview when volunteers wish to retire. ● Enable a transition of volunteer support when volunteers retire. ● Discuss issues with volunteers and find helpful contacts and resources. ● Maintain as much discretion and privacy as possible for both clients and volunteers. ● Invite volunteers to be creative in responding to clients’ needs. ● Show sensitivity to the trauma of conflict and displacement. ● Seek to be culturally appropriate and respectful at all times. ● Work according to the RWinR Safeguarding Policies, Risk Assessments, Code of Conduct and Lone Working Policy. ● Treat personal information confidentially. ● Alert the RWinR Nominated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Safeguarding Officer immediately if concerned about the well-being or safety of a client or family member; do not attempt to investigate concerns yourself.

● Enthusiasm for our vision and mission to enable refugees to feel welcome, successfully settle and thrive in Richmond upon Thames. ● Willingness to undergo relevant training necessary to maintain and develop skills, knowledge and compliance with legislation. ● Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good judgment and work effectively in teams and independently. ● Strong communication skills (including familiarity with Google Workspace) and willingness to participate actively and empathetically. ● Commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. ● A DBS check with no criminal convictions. ● Be over 18.
You will be part of a friendly team working to support sanctuary seekers in our local area. You will gain useful experience in coordinating people and activities.
Approximately 4- 5 hours a week.
