Social Supermarket Assistant
Spring Social SuperMarket (Triple’S) - A SHOP FOR FOOD, FRIENDS AND ADVICE Our Social Supermarket caters for those who are struggling with rising costs, want to purchase culturally appropriate food at reasonable prices. Responsibiities; Help customers with their food shopping needs, Process Payments Keep the supermarket neat and presentable. Restock the shelves Checking customers in and out Working on a point-of-sale system and closing the till at the end of the shift Assist customers with their shopping Receiving and unpacking deliveries A DBS check will be required
Community Work
Basic IT skills - internet & email, Cleaning & Tidying, Organising & Planning
Capable, calm (tolerant/patient) and thorough - Good organisational skills - Ability to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours per week - Ability to commit a minimum of three months (ideally longer) - Sense of humour and perspective - Ability to encourage and support children and vulnerable adults - Ability to communicate effectively - Able to work as part of a small diverse team - Ability to maintain confidentiality - A willingness to learn and show initiative - Some roles may require a DBS check which SCH will carry out on your behalf
Firstly, you'll make a direct impact by addressing hunger and food insecurity within the community. Additionally, you'll develop essential skills such as organization, communication, and customer service, while fostering meaningful relationships with fellow volunteers and clients. Contributing to the well-being of others brings personal fulfillment and a deeper awareness of food insecurity issues. With flexible scheduling options, you can volunteer at sessions that align with your availability, all while enhancing your resume and experiencing a profound sense of purpose
Time: 9:00a.m.–3:00p.m. Two shifts,: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m and 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ( you are welcome to do more than one shift)
