Front of House Volunteers

The William Morris Society

Volunteer to work the Front of House at the William Morris Society.

Detailed Description

The Society is currently recruiting Front of House volunteers, a role which includes: Welcoming visitors, charging entry fees, and keeping tally whilst doing so, monitoring the gift shop, ensuring the displays are stocked, and completing sales using POS systems, engaging with visitors and answering questions, sharing your knowledge on the history of William Morris and Kelmscott House (full training and resources will be provided), providing information about Membership. The role would suit somebody interested in museums, cultural heritage, and the arts.

Why these skills are required

No skills or experience is needed for this volunteer position. A knowledge or willingness to learn about William Morris and his work would be desirable so we can give visitors the best possible experience at the Museum.

What is in it for you

Volunteers will gain experience working in: visitor experience (specifically in a heritage/museum environment), customer service, and using point of sale systems.

Time Commitment

We ask volunteers to do two volunteering sessions a month. These sessions are when we are open to the public on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1pm-4pm (November to March) or 2pm-5pm (April to October). Volunteers can choose which of these days and dates work best for them.
