Opportunity to for a keen gardener to contribute to the well-being of vulnerable children by helping maintain our therapy garden.
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES As a Volunteer Gardener, you will help with the general upkeep and maintenance of our therapy garden. Your contribution will play a key role in making the outdoor space a tranquil and safe place for the children to relax and engage in therapy. Key Responsibilities: • Garden Maintenance: General maintenance tasks such as weeding, pruning, mowing the lawn, and tidying flower beds. • Watering: Regular watering of plants, ensuring they remain healthy and vibrant. • Leaf Clearing: Clearing leaves and other debris from pathways, seating areas, and grassy spaces, particularly during autumn. • Sweeping & Tidying: Keeping pathways and seating areas clean and tidy, ensuring the garden remains safe for children to use. • Planting & Replanting: Assisting with planting new flowers, shrubs, or trees, depending on the season. • Supporting Seasonal Projects: Helping with seasonal projects such as creating sensory gardens, vegetable patches, or wildlife-friendly areas. • Reporting: Informing the Centre Manager of any issues that may need professional attention, such as broken equipment or large-scale garden work.

• Gardening Knowledge: Basic gardening skills and knowledge, including plant care, weeding, and simple garden maintenance tasks. • Physical Fitness: Ability to undertake physical tasks such as digging, lifting, bending, and using basic gardening tools. • Attention to Detail: A good eye for detail to ensure the garden is well-maintained and safe for children to explore. • Team Player: Ability to work independently and as part of a small team. • Passion for Nature and Helping Others • A love for outdoor work and an understanding of how green spaces contribute to emotional well-being.
