We are looking for someone with a friendly attitude who enjoys interacting with a variety of people, who is passionate about volunteering and is happy to work as part of a team. You must have excellent communication and organisational skills and although no prior experience is required, you will have a basic knowledge of retail systems of payment although training will be provided. You will have the ability to remain calm in the event of an emergency and have a good knowledge of procedures in place to deal with any such events (these are provided for you in the Volunteer Handbook and can be discussed at your induction).

We value our volunteers and will do our best to make the volunteer experience with us enjoyable and rewarding. We offer training for all our volunteer roles, and we try to extend opportunities for volunteers to improve existing knowledge and skills and gain new ones. Experience of working as a volunteer in a catering environment Have fun and meet new people Familiarisation with site and staff Develop skills for your CV Volunteer induction including Food Hygiene and Health and Safety training Additional Training in relation to your role, including In-house barista training, cash handling training and training in the use of an Electronic Point of Sale system Refresher training every 2 years relevant to your role Regular one to one supervision to support you in your role and discuss your development Recognition and appreciation for your contribution Reimbursement of reasonable expenses in line with RHC policy Opportunities take part in fairs and events throughout the year
Although we don’t specify the time that you commit to volunteering, we ask that you give a minimum of 2 hours a week to support the RHC Café staff members.
