Arts & Culture Support Volunteer

Hackney Caribbean Elderly Organisation

Support older people to build confidence, learn and develop new skills and improve their physical and mental wellbeing by becoming an Arts & Culture Support Volunteer at HCEO. You will work with the arts tutor on different craft projects, supporting the members to create a whole variety of artworks made from recycled materials . Come and help us create, inspire and, most of all, have fun.

Detailed Description

HCEO is a well established community organisation for older people in Stoke Newington providing social & cultural activities, lunch club, music and movement, a dementia memory group and advocacy support. HCEO has a committed team of volunteers to assist us in providing high quality services, but as demand for our services grows, we are looking for more help. This role focuses on our Wednesday arts & culture programme run by a very creative, experienced tutor who uses waste materials to create one off works of art with our older members. You will be supporting the tutor to run the sessions, working directly with the older members on the project of the day with the aim of building their confidence, enabling them to learn and develop new skills and to assist with their physical and mental wellbeing.

HCEO offers relevant training to its volunteers, there is a management and support structure in place to help volunteers grow and develop within their role and we provide references or testimonials. We also cover travel and meal expenses.

Time Commitment

The sessions run on Wednesdays from 1100 to 1530, but if you cannot attend for the whole session, we are happy for you to get involved for a minimum of 2 hours.
