Refreshments Service Support Volunteer
Kempton Great Engines Trust
Provision of the refreshments service to visitors on our public open days at Kempton Steam Museum.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kempton Steam Museum as it embarks on an ambitious programme to showcase Kempton’s vital role in supplying much of London’s water and become a “must visit” international attraction. We are looking for committed and enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the provision of the refreshments service to visitors on our public open days. The provision of refreshments provides a key part in the visitor experience at the museum, resulting in a more satisfying and enjoyable visit. The sales also provide useful financial income. The primary responsibilities are to assist with preparation prior to visitor arrival, sales and cleaning during the day, and cleaning and tidying up at the end of the day. The role is suitable for someone who likes working in a team to deliver a customer service role. Arrival at the museum is needed about 30 minutes before the museum opens and end of day activities need about another 30 minutes. This gives a volunteering day of about seven hours although half-day attendance is also welcome. Existing refreshment volunteers will provide training and information on the basic requirements of food hygiene and cleanliness. The refreshments area is located within the museum building and currently has a five star food hygiene rating issued by the local council. The operation of Kempton Steam Museum is overseen and governed by the Kempton Great Engines Trust, this being a registered company limited by guarantee and also a registered charity.
