Peer Support Group Co-Facilitator
Resolving Door Peer Support Project
Co-facilitators will help facilitate a monthly face-to-face peer support group and a monthly online peer support group for adults who may have experienced repeated contact with mental health services, or who simply want a safe and welcoming space to talk with people who genuinely “get it.”
Co-facilitators will use their lived experience, training and interpersonal skills to support a space where everyone is valued as an equal participant. The role is about helping to create a space where people can: Feel safe, heard and accepted. Talk openly about what is on their minds and in their hearts. Explore and better understand their emotions. Develop self-worth and self-care. Build meaningful connections with others. Share experiences, strengths and hope. Begin to imagine and work towards a better life for themselves and their communities. How the groups will work The groups will be semi-structured, giving people enough structure to feel safe while leaving room for the group to shape the conversation. A typical session may include: A group agreement, created and agreed together. A quote or thought for the day. An ice-breaker. A discussion prompt. Open group discussion and sharing. A closing reflection, such as one thing each person is looking forward to. Co-facilitators will help guide the session, but the group itself will be a collaborative effort between members and facilitators. We want members to have a genuine voice in shaping the community.
