What is in it for you

There is no feeling quite like knowing you have played a part in helping someone improve their health and wellbeing. In this role, you will help people access vital healthcare and wellbeing support, making a real difference to their lives and helping them build confidence in using health services independently. You will be part of a team committed to ending homelessness and supporting people to build the skills and confidence needed to sustain positive outcomes. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills and experience in a meaningful way while developing your knowledge of health inequalities, community services and the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness. You will also gain experience in administration, partnership working and event coordination, as well as opportunities to learn, develop your skills and connect with other volunteers and colleagues. As a Health & Wellbeing Support Volunteer, you will use your professional skills and experience to support Crisis members in accessing healthcare and overcoming some of the barriers that people experiencing homelessness can face when engaging with health services. You will also play a key role in supporting the delivery of health and wellbeing services at Skylight. By helping to organise activities, workshops and health-related events, maintaining accurate records, and building positive relationships with local healthcare providers and partner organisations, you will contribute to improving members' access to healthcare and opportunities that support their overall wellbeing. The role is varied and rewarding, combining administration, research, communication and event coordination. You may support the team by contacting healthcare organisations, gathering information about local services, assisting with referrals, helping to organise and facilitate health and wellbeing events, and ensuring staff and members have the information and resources they need to achieve positive outcomes and move towards ending homelessness.
