Youth Engagement Officer

The role will support the identification of young people's needs, interests, and aspirations, helping to develop and promote activities, opportunities, and initiatives that encourage youth participation and positive outcomes.
The Youth Engagement Officer will help SME LOCAL CIC develop meaningful relationships with young people, youth organisations, schools, colleges, community groups, businesses, and other relevant partners. The role will support the identification of young people's needs, interests, and aspirations, helping to develop and promote activities, opportunities, and initiatives that encourage youth participation and positive outcomes. The successful volunteer will help ensure that young people's voices are heard and that they have opportunities to engage with activities that support their personal, educational, professional, and community development. Key Responsibilities Youth Engagement • Engage with young people in a positive, respectful, and inclusive manner. • Help identify the interests, needs, aspirations, and challenges facing young people. • Encourage young people to participate in relevant programmes, activities, events, and opportunities. • Support the development of youth-focused engagement activities. • Help ensure young people's views and feedback are listened to and considered. Partnership and Community Engagement • Identify and build relationships with schools, colleges, youth organisations, community groups, charities, businesses, and other relevant organisations. • Support partnership opportunities that benefit young people. • Help connect young people with opportunities for volunteering, training, employment, mentoring, enterprise, and personal development. • Support communication with partner organisations and stakeholders. Events and Activities • Support the planning and delivery of youth-focused events, workshops, activities, and community initiatives. • Assist with outreach and promotion to encourage participation. • Support registration, communication, and follow-up activities where appropriate. • Help create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for young people. Communication and Promotion • Help promote youth opportunities and activities through appropriate communication channels. • Support the preparation of social media content, newsletters, emails, flyers, presentations, and other promotional materials. • Share relevant opportunities, resources, and information with young people and partner organisations. Monitoring and Feedback • Maintain appropriate records of engagement activities and participation. • Collect feedback from young people and partner organisations. • Help identify areas for improvement. • Provide regular updates to the Director or Senior Management Team. • Contribute ideas for developing SME LOCAL CIC's youth engagement work.

Previous experience working with young people, youth organisations, schools, colleges, community groups, education, mentoring, volunteering, or community development would be beneficial but is not essential.
