Trustee for Turn Around
Turn Around
Turn Around the basic skills charity needs one or two more trustees to help it flourish and grow, so as to help more people. We are looking in particular for potential Trustees with good PR and networking skills, but we welcome applications from anyone who shares our belief that everyone can and should be helped to realise their potential. Previous experience as a Trustee is not necessary and we welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds.

Previous experience as a Trustee is not necessary and we welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds. Almost all Turn Around’s students achieve their goals - principally: - employment - further education or training - school and exam success Our FREE services are entirely provided by our wonderful volunteer tutors and funded by generous donations. Will you help us help more students to Turn their lives Around? The boring bit Turn Around is an educational charity which provides free, effective, one-to-one tuition in basic skills (reading, writing, English language and basic maths) to children and adults in South East London. It operates at present in five locations in the borough of Bromley and has an annual expenditure of £30,000, delivering its services through a group of more than 40 volunteer tutors helping upwards of 80 students, with a success rate of more than 98%. It has a stream of funding in place from core donors, but constantly needs to fundraise to supplement this. It is run by eight trustees, five of whom have served since it started in 2005, two since 2020 and one since 2022. One of the original trustees has now stepped down, and the remaining original trustees feel that some fresh blood is probably overdue. The trustees meet three or four times a year, usually for two to three hours of an evening in a trustee’s house locally or in St. Mary Cray, and meetings are friendly but purposeful. In between meetings, individual trustees may like to devote some more of their spare time to our internal focus groups, perhaps reflecting their own particular areas of interest/expertise. For more information on Turn Around, visit www.turnaroundcharity.org.uk or look us up on www.charitycommission.gov.uk. If you are interested in joining us as a trustee, please call Michelle on 07932 034479 or email info@turnaroundcharity.org.uk. We are also always looking for more volunteers and for supporters. If you’re interested in volunteering, please call Lynn on 07794 385553 or email info@turnaroundcharity.org.uk. If you’re interested in donating, please click on the “Donate” button on our website. There are more than 11 million adults in England with poor basic skills (OECD Report). We need to find better ways to make them aware we exist and can help.
Trusteeships & Committees
Bookkeeping & Finance, Fundraising
We would like new Trustees to have the skillsets cited above, or be good at PR and networking, but they're not a deal-breaker. Happy to talk to anyone who shares our belief that everyone can and should be helped to realise their potential.
The satisfaction that comes from helping others achieve their potential. The pleasure of working with a friendly, like-minded team.
