When matched together people connect to do something they would like to do together – it is all about creating a gentle support network that helps people feel cared about and part of their communities. • Providing companionship, emotional support and a listening ear – this could be in person or by phone • Building a relationship with a community member • Helping the community member to stay connected to friends and the community • Guiding the community member to important support services
Compassionate Neighbours is a project which connects a person in the community (a Compassionate Neighbour) with a person who has a terminal diagnosis, or is at the end of life and is older and socially isolated (a Community Member). When matched together people connect to do something they would like to do together – it is all about creating a gentle support network that helps people feel cared about and part of their communities.
