The instrumental secretary will need to create the timetable for the competition weekend, liaise with the competitors (via email), liaise with the adjudicators and run the weekend with a group of volunteer stewards.
The organisers of the Richmond upon Thames Performing Arts Festival are seeking a new Secretary for the Instrumental section – a post which could be interest to a recently retired person. Specifically the Instrumental section which usually attracts about 170 entries is held at the end of March each year, currently at Sir Richard Reynolds Catholic College and these competitions are organised by the Secretary

The instrumental secretary will need to have access to IT (laptop and internet) and much of the planning and organising is done using IT. They also need to be able to communicate positively with parents and participants in a way which is encouraging and supportive.
If you enjoy watching young people make music and would like to be part of their development, this is definitely for you! You will also be working in a team of people who will support you.
The busiest period is between February, once the closing date has happened and you have to create the timetable, and March running up to the weekend of the festival (29-30 March 2025)
