You will be volunteering to support our van drivers deliver rescued food or household goods to our depots and on to our community partners.
We need volunteers to support our van drivers deliver rescued food or household goods to our depots and on to our community partners. Drivers are a core part of our operations. They play a vital role in rescuing and redistributing surplus food. They’re also the face of Felix. However, almost all our routes need a co-driver to assist so without you we may not be able to make a much needed delivery. All co-drivers start their journey in the warehouse, understanding the process of rescuing and packing food. They then learn about our route and fleet software before getting on the road as a qualified co-driver. You’ll support the driver to load and unload food crates, give directions using our Driver App (Route Me), find suitable parking spaces and report any issues or feedback online and in person. You will not drive the van.

The Felix Project collects fresh, nutritious food that cannot be sold. We deliver this surplus food to charities and schools so they can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society. There is no minimum time commitment. Volunteers are able to volunteer weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually to suit their schedules. Shifts usually last 3-4 hours.

There is parking for volunteers at the Acton Park Depot but there are a limited number of spaces. The Depot is served well by public transport. The nearest station is Acton Central on the Mildmay Overland Line, which is about 5 minutes walk away. Turnham Green (District) and Acton Town (Piccadilly) stations are approxitmately 25 minutes walk away. Buses which stop at or near to Acton Park include; 70, 207, 218 & SL8.
