Events & Workshops Volunteer

Wandle Park Arts Cafe

Support our team in setting up community events, welcoming guests, assisting with simple tasks, and keeping the space friendly and organised. Flexible shifts, training provided, travel expenses covered, and a chance to build confidence, communication skills, and event-support experience in a warm, inclusive café environment.

Detailed Description

Purpose: To support the café team in delivering small community events, pop-ups, family activities, creative sessions, and workshops hosted at or near the café. This role focuses on assisting with setup, guest support, simple tasks, and helping create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Key Duties (Assistance-Focused) - Assist staff in preparing the space for events (setting out chairs/tables, placing signage, arranging materials). - Welcome guests, sign people in, provide basic information, and direct them to the right area. - Help staff with simple tasks such as distributing materials, serving refreshments, or guiding participants. - Support the smooth flow of activities (e.g., helping groups move between stations, handing out supplies). - Assist with simple tech needs (e.g., turning on speakers, adjusting lights, setting up a projector) — training provided. - Help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment throughout the event. - Assist with tidying up after sessions: collecting materials, clearing tables, wiping surfaces, repositioning furniture, disposing of waste properly. Boundaries (What Volunteers Do Not Do) - No leading or teaching workshops independently. - No event management, risk-assessment responsibility, or decision-making roles. - No handling complex equipment without training. - No obligation to commit to specific hours; participation is voluntary and flexible. - No financial duties such as banking, budgeting, or managing event revenue.
