Why these skills are required

Good teamwork skills – able to work well with staff, other volunteers, and families in a calm, supportive way. Empathy & patience – understanding that families may have complex needs or be neurodivergent. Reliability & professionalism – turning up on time and maintaining a positive, respectful approach.

What is in it for you

Volunteering with Rising Ohana’s CIC gives you the chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable and neurodivergent young mums, first-time parents, and families who genuinely need support. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with individuals who have complex needs, while developing practical skills and confidence in community work, early-help support, and family engagement. This role also gives you a unique insight into how neurodivergence shapes parenting — from communication to routines to emotional regulation — and how this can differ from the typical first-time parent experience. You’ll be part of a warm, supportive team, helping create safe, inclusive workshop spaces where families feel understood, connected, and empowered. It’s meaningful work that builds compassion, experience, and community all at the same time.
