Driver for Cooking Up Charity
Cooking Up
Cooking charity looking for local drivers to help us transport our cooking equipment to our cookery classes across the borough
We are looking for local volunteer drivers (estate car or van) to help us transport our cookery equipment from Ham to our cookery locations primarily in Ham, Whitton and Twickenham. Cooking Up is a small charity helping people living in challenging circumstances to learn to cook affordable, healthy meals for themselves and their families. We run regular cookery classes in a variety of locations in the borough. As a volunteer driver, you will be required to pick up our cookery equipment from Big Yellow Storage in Ham and transport it to the cookery class venues where our volunteers will help unload. You will then pick up the equipment after the class has finished and take it back to Big Yellow Storage in Ham. This equates to approximately half a day of your time 1 to 2 days per week. NB you will need to inform your motor insurance provider if you take on this role.
Driving (must have full driving license)
UK Driving Licence
This role requires lifting crates and boxes from our storage unit in Ham and driving them to a variety of locations in the borough. We provide a trolley to help with the logistics, however, some of the boxes are relatively heavy, so please bear this in mind when thinking about your suitability for the role.
Cooking Up is a relatively new charity which is growing rapidly and beginning to make a real impact in the borough. We are working with a wide variety of clients including adults who are living in food poverty and don't know how to cook; socially isolated people, families with children with additional needs; carers; refugees and many more. If you are keen to help us in our efforts to get people cooking fresh, affordable and healthy meals, then this is a great opportunity. You will also meet other wonderful volunteers who help us run the sessions.
1/2 a day once or twice per week.
