Volunteer at Legacy Youth Zone by gathering and curating young people's stories, amplify their voices and help us measure our impact on young people's lives.
Legacy Youth Zone relies on impact stories to measure impact and effectiveness of our universal youth work and targeted projects aiming to support young people. We are looking for a volunteer to join our Communications and Marketing team to interview Youth Zone members and create stories reporting on their experiences in Legacy projects. This role would suit a person interested in the communications sector, or looking to learn more about measuring impact, outcomes and managing deliverables in the not-for-profit sector. It is a great opportunity to gain experience in interviewing others and creating a report or story. Develop skills in capturing, evaluating and presenting impact data in creative and meaningful ways that connect with audiences, gain key transferable experience and join an energetic and dynamic team working to support young people. Main responsibilities: - Undertake interviews with young people to explore their experiences and present them into a ‘story’ format - Build positive and trusting relationships with young people, create comfortable ‘interview’ environments. - Establish clear professional boundaries - Share your own feedback and ideas, use your creativity and collaborate with others - Adhere to Legacy Youth Zone Health and Safety Policy - Adhere to Legacy Youth Zone Safeguarding Children Policy

Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with others. Genuine enjoyment in engaging with young people and making space to hear their voices. Strong creative and visual skills, excellent command of the English language in speaking and writing. Additional creative skills welcome but not required. Self-motivated and able to work well independently Reliable & punctual A positive, non-judgemental, and patient attitude towards young people.
Volunteers will get to be part of a team supporting young people. You will meet new people, learn new skills or share your skills and experiences with others and have fun doing so. Our volunteers can enjoy a hot meal and drink while on session and access training through Legacy Youth Zone such as Youth Work, Advanced Safeguarding or CPD. Volunteers are invited to regular social and appreciation events and are recognised for their support in our team and the community. Volunteering at Legacy is an opportunity to be part of the bigger picture but to also join an award winning youth provision that is providing thousands of young people access to a broad range of activities, enabling them to discover talents and skills they otherwise might not have known they had. This helps young people, some from disadvantaged backgrounds, channel their energy in positive and productive ways whilst making friends and learning new skills. Flexible, up to 4 hours a week during session times; (Tuesday, Thursday 16:00-20:00, Wednesday, Friday 17:00-21:00, Saturday 12:00-15:00, 17:00-21:00, Sunday 15:00-18:00). To be discussed with individual. We ask for a term-time commitment to provide consistency
