This role would be a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to gain skills and experience in working with young people with additional needs and learn more about supporting young people and families. It would be a great fit for someone who is passionate about inclusivity and interested in the youth and social support sector, looking for work experience or considering a career change, or simply looking to give back to young people and the community.
'Beyond Limits' is our Legacy Members Club for young people aged 8-25 years old with additional needs. In our dedicated Sunday Session, we invite Beyond Limits members and their families to Legacy for activities that prioritise inclusion and promote opportunities for these young people to explore their potential. We are looking for volunteers to join the Beyond Limits Legacy Team and support our programme with activities such as music, performing arts, dance, sports or games. This team is the perfect place to develop youthwork and teamwork skills, gain experience leading and organising activities, and build meaningful and impactful relationships with young people and a positive and welcoming team. Main responsibilities - Assist in planning and delivering inclusive activities tailored to the needs of young people, being mindful of additional needs and disabilities - Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and their parents/carers - Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment, motivate and support young people to take part in session - Adhere to Legacy Youth Zone Health and Safety and Safeguarding Children Policies - Pass on safeguarding concerns and disclosures to a safeguarding officer in a timely manner

Skills and Attributes - Enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine commitment to the progress of young people. - Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with others. - Friendly and approachable, reliable & punctual with an empathetic and compassionate approach - Excited and passionate about working with young people with additional needs, leading with sensitivity and understanding with a willingness to learn. - A respectful attitude towards people of different educational, economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds. A positive, non-judgemental, and patient attitude towards young people. - An ability to handle personal information sensitively and comply with Legacy’s Data Protection and GDPR policies.

You will meet new people, learn new skills or share your skills and experiences with others and have fun doing so. Our volunteers can enjoy a hot meal and drink while on session and access training through Legacy Youth Zone such as Youth Work, Advanced Safeguarding or CPD. Volunteers are invited to regular social and appreciation events and are recognised for their support in our team and the community. Volunteering at Legacy is an opportunity to be part of the bigger picture but to also join an award winning youth provision that is providing thousands of young people access to a broad range of activities, enabling them to discover talents and skills they otherwise might not have known they had. This helps young people, some from disadvantaged backgrounds, channel their energy in positive and productive ways whilst making friends and learning new skills.
