Crisis Skylight Croydon

As a handyperson volunteer you will use your knowledge, experience, and skills to help with minor repairs around the Skylight such as putting up pictures and shelves and fixing door handles. You will also use your decorating skills to paint areas of the Skylight that are looking tired. You will work alongside our Admin and Facilities Team.

Detailed Description

As a handyperson volunteer you will use your knowledge, experience, and skills to help with minor repairs around the Skylight such as putting up pictures and shelves and fixing door handles. You will also use your decorating skills to paint areas of the Skylight that are looking tired. You will work alongside our Admin and Facilities Team. You will carry out tasks including but not limited to: Repairing and maintaining: •Putting up pictures and other artwork •Putting up shelves, hooks and brackets •Tightening door handles •Basic decoration Basic plumbing issues •Changing taps •Fixing leaky/dripping taps •Fixing broken toilet flush •Replacing toilet seats Installing basic amenities •Putting together flat pack furniture Simple electrical tasks •Changing light bulbs and light fittings •Fixing light switches Additional information To provide a safe, welcoming environment for everyone we provide volunteers with a code of conduct (how we work together). This will be found within your volunteer policy sign off document. We ask all volunteers to read our policy document and always comply with those policies. Reasonable out of pocket expenses for travel/lunch will be paid in line with our expenses policy. We strive to ensure that our services are welcoming, remain relevant and are fully accessible to everyone that we help and support. We are keen to receive applications from volunteers from diverse and other marginalised communities as this helps us ensure the best experience for those that we are here to help. This includes those with lived experience of homelessness.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who: • Has experience of being a handyperson, plumber, painter decorator or electrician • Can work well in a team • Is empathetic and compassionate to the needs of those experiencing homelessness • Is passionate about standing with Crisis and our members to end homelessness
