Our Personal Safety Project (PSP) is a free service which aims to help older people who have fallen or are at risk of falling at home. The service is available to anyone aged 50 and over who lives in the borough of Croydon.

Detailed Description

Our Personal Safety Project (PSP) is a free service which aims to help older people who have fallen or are at risk of falling at home. The service is available to anyone aged 50 and over who lives in the borough of Croydon. Our trained Personal Safety assessors carry out a comprehensive home risk assessment to identify potential causes of falls and hazards in the home and can arrange for stair rails, grab handles and other necessary aids to be supplied and/or fitted, free of charge. They will also: • Assess and identify risks in the home • Advise on simple everyday safety precautions • Arrange for necessary aids to be fitted and equipment provided • Make referrals to other health care professionals The project can provide ongoing telephone support for up to six weeks to monitor the risk of further falls post engagement. What will I be doing? As a PSP Client Feedback Volunteer, you will be contributing your skills to support the smooth functioning of our administrative operations. This could include, but is not limited to: • Conducting follow up calls to PSP Clients to find out how they are managing with the aids and/or equipment provided and how this has improved their safety within the home. • Having a `Making Every Contact Count’ conversation with the client to find out if there are any other service the client would benefit from including any other Age UK Croydon service they may benefit from. • Inputting information onto our database Charitylog. This role is office-based with a mixture inputting information onto Charitylog and speaking to clients. You would need to comfortable working on a computer and be willing to receive further training.

You will have the ability to maintain professional boundaries and adhere to Age UK Croydon’s policies and procedures, including Confidentiality and Safeguarding. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Time Commitment
