Volunteer ESOL/EAL Club Leader
Legacy Youth Zone
We are looking for volunteers to join our new programme supporting displaced children in the community. We are looking for help offering English Language support at Legacy and building young people's confidence and skills towards positive outcomes. This would be a great opportunity for someone interested in ESOL to gain experience and build skills.
Legacy is embarking on a new project focused on supporting displaced young people in Croydon’s education and wellbeing. This project aims to provide displaced young people in the borough free membership and meals at Legacy and structured support aligned with identified needs, such as English Language support, counselling, physical activities and engagement in all enriching activities at Legacy. In this role, you will support young people to develop their English Language skills through ESOL sessions / EAL Club at the Youth Zone. • Plan, prepare and lead ESOL sessions with displaced young people either as part of a team or individually. Sessions should aim to be engaging, educational and adaptable to a range of skill levels and needs. • Provide an enriching space and environment to build communication skills, confidence, and self-esteem. • Come to sessions prepared and build positive relationships and great communication with the wider Legacy team to support outcomes for young people • Establish clear professional boundaries and build positive and trusting relationships with young people • Adhere to Legacy Youth Zone Health and Safety Policy and Safeguarding Children Policies
