Volunteer Training Kitchen Activity Leader

Legacy Youth Zone

We are looking for a confident and experienced volunteer to lead activities in our Training Kitchen as part of our after-school provision for young people in Croydon. Make your mark and join the team at Legacy Youth Zone to make a positive difference on young people's lives and foster young people's creativity and engagement in the performing arts.

Detailed Description

This role includes planning and leading engaging and interactive cooking sessions with young people, ensuring food safety and providing a safe and nurturing space for young people accessing the Youth Zone. This role would be well-suited for someone with a professional or personal background in cooking who would like to share their talents and passions with young people in a supportive environment or is looking to gain experience leading group cooking activities or working with young people. - Plan, prepare and deliver cooking activities for young people including promoting practical life skills in cooking and nutrition - Ensure the sessions suit the needs and abilities of the participants and are enjoyable - Confidently prioritise the safety of young people using the facilities by reinforcing rules, giving clear instructions and using equipment safely - Collaborate with Training Kitchen team to share ideas, recipes and coordinate ingredients lists - Adhere to Legacy Youth Zone Health and Safety Policy and Safeguarding Children Policy in activity planning and delivery

Why these skills are required

- Level 2 (minimum) Food & Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake this training prior to start - Passion for cooking food and knowledge and experience in a kitchen - Experience (or necessary confidence) in leading cooking activities. Experience working with young people is ideal but not required. Must be confident to manage the space and activities independently. - Reliable & punctual and committed to the volunteer role - A positive, non-judgemental, patient and flexible attitude towards young people

Time Commitment

Thursday after-school for a maximum of 4 hours between 4.00pm-8.00pm. We ask for a term-time commitment to provide consistency
