Local Group Coordinators play a key role in ensuring things happen in their local communities. You will be co-managing the group, meetings, campaigning, communicating and being a part of the local movement for Greenpeace!

Detailed Description

Overview of the role Local Groups are a source of expertise and energy that have been fundamental to Greenpeace’s successes as a campaigning organisation. Local Groups are in many ways the public face of the organisation, delivering to their communities our campaigns and values. It’s unlikely any of this would happen without Local Group Coordinators who play a key role in ensuring things happen in their local communities. Key duties Management, coordination and administration - Organise monthly meetings - Ensure new and existing group members are welcomed and supported - Ensure those covering different roles in your group have what is needed and support them when necessary - If sharing the Coordinator role, be sure that you are clear on how you share responsibilities - Request additional materials when necessary from Get Active Communication - Maintain strong lines of communication within the group and with the Greenpeace Outreach Team - Share content of LGC News with your group at monthly meetings and in minutes. Also quickly disseminate any further information sent in between issues - Ensure petitions and data are collected and sent to the Outreach team in a secure way - Ensure the Local Group’s Greenwire page is up to-date, welcome new group members and post content Campaigning: - Ensure that campaign days/events take place. Can be led on the day by you or by another trusted volunteer - Ensure all required materials are available on the day - Ensure promotion of event has been carried out - Ensure that any post-activity requirements in the briefing are completed and that materials are returned and accounted for Raising awareness, fundraising and events - Identify opportunities in your local community for stalls or other engagement opportunities - If possible, encourage your group to organise film screenings or fundraising events - Ensure events are delivered properly with sufficient volunteers
