Hon' Treasurer

Crystal Palace Supporters Children’s Charity

As the CPSCC Treasurer your current tasks would include: Banking, Annual Return to the Charity Commission, Annual Gift Aid reclaim, Corporation Tax, Annual Accounts and some Non-treasurer related tasks

Detailed Description

CPSCC Treasurer’s current tasks 1. Banking Using Lloyds Internet banking, create a cash book spreadsheet to record all transactions under the various headings required to produce the annual accounts. This will also involve setting up new payees and making on-line payments. During quiet periods of charity activity this may take just a couple of hours per month but may take a great deal longer when dealing with the Golf Day transactions. This also will require several visits to the local Lloyds Bank branch to pay in funds. Additional spreadsheets will be required to analyse the Golf Day and Christmas Party activities. The minimal transactions relating to the Santander Bank account (not internet) require a simple spreadsheet. 2. Annual Return to the Charity Commission To provide details of the current Trustees and complete the questionnaire regarding the Charity's purpose and activities. At the present time the Annual accounts need not be submitted (just the total income and expenditure) as the income falls within the de minimis limit. Allow a couple of hours for this. This task would normally be the responsibility of the Secretary of a Charity. 3. Annual Gift Aid reclaim Where donations are received directly and not via Just Giving, we can claim a tax refund. This will only apply to resident UK taxpayers and not to companies. Allow a couple of hours for this as the HMRC software leaves a lot to be desired. 4 Corporation Tax Every few years we are selected to complete a Corporation Tax Return. The majority of the Return can be ignored as we can claim an exemption due to our Charity status. We have to submit a copy of the latest Accounts on-line which can be difficult due to the poor software used by HMRC. Allow several hours to complete this due to possible resubmissions. 5. Annual Accounts Using the above-mentioned cash book spreadsheets, compile a simple income and expenditure statement with supporting schedules, circulate to the committee for comments before handing over all relevant documents to an independent person for audit purposes. Once agreed the accounts can be submitted to the Committee at the AGM for approval. A few hours to complete this task will be required. 6. Non-treasurer related tasks As part of the annual Christmas Party organisation the following tasks are currently the responsibility of the Treasurer: Purchase of Toys for the party (Smyths) Purchase of gifts for the helpers Purchase of consumable items for the Santa sacks.
