Connect to Tech Volunteer
Richmond AID
Volunteer with Richmond AID Connect to Tech to empower individuals with technology, working alongside digital trainers and fellow volunteers. Together, we guide people through tasks like device usage, emailing, video calling, and online safety, benefiting the community and collaborating with Richmond AID, a charity supporting people of all disabilities.
Become a volunteer to help people to make more of technology in the borough of Richmond Upon Thames. Working alongside a digital trainer and sometimes other volunteers you will help people in small groups and across a range of devices to do digital tasks. For example, foundational tasks about how to use the devices, send emails, video calling and learning how to be safe online. Richmond AID is a charity that supports people of all ages with all disabilities, including physical and sensory impairments, mental health issues and learning difficulties.

• Volunteers should display the following characteristics: reliable, fun, caring, safety conscious, responsible and enthusiastic! • Digital or IT training or teaching skills aren’t required. However a good basic understanding of some digital technology is necessary although that can be on specific types of devices and/or services. • The most important skill is having patience and empathy with people who find technology challenging and off putting. Being a calm & friendly supportive volunteer matters more than having all the technical answers.
