Mentor at New City College

One Million Mentors

One Million Mentors (1MM) is a community-based mentoring programme that empowers young people to become the best version of themselves. Mentors from diverse professional backgrounds are trained and supported to guide young people aged 14-18. You will be supporting the mentees in various things such as their next steps, CV building, confidence, and career advice - it is mentee led. You'll meet for just one hour a month, but your impact will last a lifetime!

Detailed Description

One Million Mentors (1MM) is a community-based mentoring programme that empowers young people to become the best version of themselves: building relationships - free of assumption and judgement - where they benefit from another’s experience and perspective and can think bigger, find their own answers and take the next meaningful step into their future. Mentors from diverse professional backgrounds are trained and supported to guide young people aged 14-18. You will be supporting the mentees in various things such as their next steps, CV building, confidence, and career advice - it is mentee led. You'll meet for just one hour a month, but your impact will last a lifetime!

What skills are required for this role

Why these skills are required

Mentors should have 5 years' experience of working; 2 years experience post-graduate, or be retired or on a career break. We ask our volunteers to sign up to our platform and complete some mandatory online training.

Time Commitment

One hour a month. There will be a fixed schedule that is currently being finalised. The first session will be in November 2025.
